Bucherer

For over 130 years, Bucherer AG has been one of the most traditional houses in the watch and jewelry industry. With over 2,400 employees, Bucherer is represented at more than 34 selected locations in Europe. In addition, Bucherer expanded into the USA with the acquisition of luxury watch retailer Tourneau at the beginning of 2018. The strong growth and global sales always present new challenges for logistics. Therefore, Bucherer was looking for a competent IT partner.

Integrating software
Developing Apps

Initial situation

Before the introduction of the new solution, Bucherer AG worked with a system that only partially supported logistics and warehouse processes. The existing application required additional intermediate steps and modules to map the processes depicted in the ERP system, which increased the workload and reduced efficiency.

Integration with hardware scanner

The app was developed for various hardware scanner models, as part of the project also involved a switch to a new hardware scanner (Datalogic Memor 10). The app uses the native scanner SDK to read barcodes and communicate with the ERP.

Interface to ProConcept ERP

With the new solution, the ERP (ProConcept) was directly integrated. Thus, compared to the old solution, a separate backend was no longer needed, significantly reducing maintenance effort.

Efficiency increase in logistics

This system architecture not only reduces development and maintenance effort, but also increases performance at the same time.

Result

The app was developed for various hardware scanners, including the new Datalogic Memor 10, and uses the native scanner SDK for barcode capture and direct communication with the ProConcept ERP. The direct integration with the ERP eliminates the need for a separate backend, reducing maintenance effort. The new system architecture enhances performance and efficiency in logistics, while a streamlined, intuitive user interface reduces training and onboarding effort.
